Hello there, TONIC friends, and welcome to the all new TONIC blog!
As former communications / journalism majors and, um, highly verbal people (to put it nicely), itโs really quite impressive weโve lasted this long without a way to send more words out onto the internet. Weโve actually been wanting to launch a blog for the past year or longer, but before we committed to yet another responsibility, we wanted to ensure the vision was clear – that it would have a specific purpose, and wouldnโt be just another pretty space ( <– the kind of quality punnery you can expect around here).
So, before we dive in to our regularly scheduled, highly beneficial and totally premium content (we believe in setting low expectations), let’s talk about what you’ll find here.
Bi-weekly posts on a range of topics, including:
Branding, design and designer tips for that whole glorious process. Weโve been doing this a few years now, and weโd like to think weโve picked up a few things along the way. Youโll see a post from us on 5 Steps to a Top Shelf About Page next week!
Hospitality, cocktails and entertaining. Weโre both passionate about the conversations that take place and relationships that form across the table. These posts will generally be on Fridays, and will equip you with some of our favorite recipes, entertaining tips and more for your weekend!
TONIC related news, releases, collection details, TONIC Regular site profiles and more. Weโve been terrible about letting you guys know whatโs going on behind the scenes here (we’re SO not natural marketers), and weโre so excited to have a space to share all the pretty excitement. Our unofficial marketing motto (that I just came up with right now) is sexy > salesy, so we promise to keep things interesting.
โBehind the Bar,โ an interview series with some of our favorite creatives. Weโll ask the tough, deep questions you donโt seeย industry leaders answer elsewhere, like โWhatโs the most embarrassing song you know all the lyrics to…?” We’re talking REAL journalism, friends. (The first iteration with our friend Mary Marantz is live now!)
TONIC travels. Our favorite thing to do in any new city is scope out the best food (because what is vacation if not eating in a new place? H/T Jim Gaffigan), drink and design in town, so weโll occasionally post up our favorite places on both coasts, and various places in-between whenever we’re — ya, know — jet-setting around the world. We always love your suggestions, too!
Meetย The Bartenders. Yep, sometimes itโll get a little personal around here. Jen still has vestiges of her high school Xanga humor columnist in her + sometimes just needs to write a diatribe about, like, oddly-shaped bowls, and Jeff loves to get introspective, philosophical and #allthefeels on occasion. Weโll warn you in advance; we promise.
We can’t wait to invite you into our virtual living room (or cocktail lounge) on a regular basis. Thanks for sharing the space with us!
