Margarita Sofia Pro Font Update

Hey friend!

There’s been an important update to your Margarita TONIC template and we wanted to let you know right away! If you purchased Margarita before September 23, 2021, you may have received an email from a font foundry saying that you were using an unlicensed font on your website and needed to purchase a license.

You do not need to purchase a font license. However, you do need to update the font file on your website. (Read on for how.)

We’d actually downloaded that font, Sofia Pro Medium, from a free font repository, but apparently, it was uploaded there in error, and the font in question does need a license.

When the font foundry contacted us last year, we immediately purchased a license for all of our template users to make sure you’re using that font in accordance with their requirements (and because we always, always believe in paying + crediting creators!).

We’ve updated the original template file for all future users or those who are just now starting. However, if your purchase pre-dates late September of 2021 in order to that font on your website, you do need to replace the Sofia Pro font file that came with your template with the one we purchased a license for.  It’s the same exact font visually, but the font file itself has the license embedded in it (so you don’t get an email asking you to purchase a license).

It’s SUPER easy to do and will take you about 30 seconds, but we highly recommend you do so right away. Ryan recorded a very short video showing you exactly what to do:

How to Upload the New Font File to Your Margarita Template
We’re sorry for the inconvenience, but thanks so much for working with us on this to make sure we give talented font creators the credit (and monies) they’re due! 🙂

Best!
